In 1999, my wife, Elisa, and I started Maximum Velocity specializing in hobby supplies for the pinewood derby enthusiast. In our car plans, we often recommended using products sold at hobby shops and hardware stores. But I was surprised to hear back from our customers that many stores did not carry the recommended products, or they were out of stock.

So, in 2006 we decided to start a new web store, Maximum Hobby, specializing in construction products for hobby, craft, and model building. Our first product line was craft metals from K&S Engineering. These fine metal products are indispensable for model railroading, metal crafts, model building, mechanical projects, and many other pursuits. Our second product line was basswood and balsa wood from Midwest Products.

Our goal is to maintain in stock status for all of our produt lines, so that you can always find what you need. We also plan to introduce other product lines used by hobbyists.
